Artist Statement
I first began studying pottery in 1974 and have been a full time potter since 1986. The main goal of my work is not just making pieces that function but also have aesthetic appeal. I like work that draws the user into their daily lives and enriches those lives.

All of my work is produced from stoneware clay and fired to 2400F in a gas downdraft kiln. Most of the pieces are handthrown on a kick/treadle wheel (I am working on a few series of slab built forms) and altered in a number of ways, decorated with slips and underglazes and finally glazed with hardwood ash glazes (I also work with a few shino and traditional iron bearing glazes.) Almost all work is utilitarian/made for daily use. I like consistency in my work but welcome some variations at times.
