Artist Bio
Born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1960, Xander Booker grew up in theatre and graduated from the School of Fine Arts. He spent two years at the University of Alabama, majoring in Theatre. While there he took an Art class and decided to leave school and become an Artist. As a artist, he was inspired by everything from early Roman fresco to surrealists and Pre- Raphaelites. Xander considers himself to be self taught. In 1989 he began working with Nall, in France. While in France everything went into supporting his desire to being an artist. Xander has had fourteen one man shows, and countless group shows. His work is in the collections of Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach, Billy Bob Thornton, The Mobile Museum of Art, The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, The Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, country music star, Sarah Evans and many others. Xander has been involved in many juried exhibitions including: The Red-clay Survey at the Huntsville Museum of Art, guest Artist at the Penland School of Crafts in Asheville, North Carolina, Moss Rock Festival, Magic City Art Connection, Shelby county Arts Council juried show. Currently he lives in Helena with his wife, Edna Sealy Booker, an artist and teacher. They have taught children’s camps adult workshop together.
