Sharon Spillar

St. Louis, MO

Sharon’s life is crazy-fun, potently purposeful and positive in a house full of love with her new husband, her kids (when they are home from college), her husband’s kids (when they are home from college) four cats, two spoiled dogs, and the art of many of her friends. Born and raised in Great Bend, Kansas. She lived in St Louis from 1994-2021. She has moved to Kansas City and is excited to now call it home.

PAINTING – Golden Acrylics on hand stretched canvas or cradled board: Sharon is an expert colorist. She expresses life through her use of color. Her paintings are inspired by views and reactions to places and spaces from both imaginary and actual experience, such as a body of water, a wild storm, a vivid dream, her flower garden and memories and feelings from her life. Her images are full of bold and sometimes subtle color.

MIXED MEDIA – ink, acrylic, chalk, paper, pencil, Lettraset, etc. on cradled board: Her Mixed Media pieces are inspired by peeling paint, thoughts and feelings, and her doodles. Many pieces have a unique history of inspiration with the combination of found, gifted and carefully collected and curated sets of ephemera. Her MM pieces are designed for the viewer to see a wonderful piece of art from afar that hides a surprise. When coming up close and personal with the piece you will find many hidden treasures. Sharon travels to art fairs and festivals all over the country and her work can be found in gallery exhibits, homes and companies throughout the United States, Taiwan, Norway, Portugal, Belgium, Malaysia, Trinidad and Tobago, Ireland, United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Germany, Denmark, Iceland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, England, China, and Canada.
